Shop 'til you drop!
Look at the pretty shoes!! Doesn't that purchase make up for my lack of posting yesterday?! Yesterday, I went on a shopping trip of epic proportion. We left the house at 8:15 in the morning and didn't arrive home until 9:00 last night. It was some serious shopping. What were we looking for? Shoes, jeans, a coat and some pretty undergarments. Were we successful? Thankfully we were. Can you imagine shopping for 12 hours and not being successful?!
There was joy when I found my shoes above (at 7:00 pm), pain as I tried on outfits that just did not fit me (btw I will *not* be entering the jeans-looking-legging movement. ever.) and horror as I tried on 15 pairs of skinny jeans, and about 20 more pairs of regular jeans. My hands were blue by the end of the ordeal. I did walk away with one pair of non-skinny that are perfect. With the price that I paid, they had better be!
I would like to send out a thank you to my shopping team-mates: you all were patient and helpful, and I enjoyed every minute...well, I could have done without the last eight pairs of skinny jeans ;)
So, you can see that I did not have time to post, even though I did finish a goal. But, you all knew which one I would finish: I finished the romper and all of my "sewing for others" goal. Now that I am looking at the list, I have a eight days in which to finish the anniversary dress, the shirtwaist dress and the skirt, using my vintage machine for one of the projects. What I have I gotten myself into?!?!?
Here is a shot of the romper, not a particularly great one, but I will do a full fashion shoot this weekend with the belated-birthday girl. At least it proves that I finished it!
Let's face it, it is most probably likely that I will have to give away one piece of fabric from my stash. I guess I can handle that. Right? It is just sitting in a bag not being used. I know I have a little over a week left, and maybe (if I sew day and night) I might be able to get it done...we will see. I am starting to accept that I may fail at one of the goals. And I think that may be okay. I could just think of it as a going away present from me to one of you lucky readers!
And...I can just buy more fabric in Rome :)

You must be getting so excited (and nervous?).
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the romper on! I saw a girl wearing one when we were walking home from dinner tonight, and I was thinking how super-cute they are.
I think the romper looks great! My sister seems to be very happy with it. I don't know if you can tell from the photo above, but it is navy linen with little anchor buttons. I am *very* pleased with it :)
ReplyDeleteI am, at this point, overwhelmed with things I planned to do before leaving. Nervous, nauseous, take your pick, but still excited. I am moving to Rome...how can that be bad?!?!
Hello? Where are the updates? Where are the photos? You are leaving for Rome in less than 24 hours... What are you doing, packing?
