Week 14: Colette
This week was going to be another lazy week, but then I found out that Sarai from Colette patterns is going to be in Boston on Saturday, April 6th! Yay!! So, I switched my schedule so that I am now free to mosey on down to Bean-town and meet this fabulous pattern maker. Obviously I need something to wear. Obviously. Enter, Laurel, the new shift pattern from Colette.
Now, I can already hear the groans and you all saying, "Maggie, did you not learn your lesson before?!?! Cray self-imposed deadlines are not good!" And I will quip back to to you, "I don't give a damn." Clearly I did not learn anything at all. And, I do have a backup plan. For real! I made a black wool Meringue skirt two winters ago and can alway wear that if this idea fails, or isn't hemmed by Saturday. But who are we kidding, you know I will be willing to hem that baby in the car ride down! :)
Now whether you are for or against me, this is my decision. I have printed the pattern, now I just need to tape it together, trace the pattern, make a muslin and then make the same dress again. And it is Tuesday.
Wait. This is a familiar feeling: tightening in my chest, breathing is getting faster, stomach is churning. Uh-oh. Maybe, I will attempt a "wearable muslin". Or just wear the Meringue skirt instead. I don't think I am up for another marathon of sewing.
I do want to make a Laurel to enter the fabulous sewing contest that is being held on the Colette website, so maybe I will make a muslin and then see how I feel. If I think it is easy enough, maybe I will try. Maybe. Right, this feels much better. I feel like some sanity has arrived and perhaps prevailed. If I keep pushing myself too hard, this much beloved hobby will turn into torture!
So this week, my goal is to make a muslin of the Laurel pattern. Did you hear me my friends? Just a muslin. Just a muslin. ( I kind of feel like that friend that swears up and down to you that the other person is "just a friend" when in reality it is someone they are getting really serious with! Hah!)
Just a muslin. ;)
What is on your agenda this week? Any fun muslins in your life right now? And is anyone coming to Boston for Saturday's festivities?!?!
